Mayobridge GAC walk for Lauren 🙌
With rucksacks packed with supplies, we all met at Kilbroney Car Park early this morning. The reason, to raise funds for Lauren Fitzgerald’s cancer treatment in New York.
It was a beautiful Sunny morning and approximately 80 people were ready for the challenge. After a few warm-up stretches we were off at 8.30am led by Brendan Monaghan and Martin Sherry and Senior Camogie Managers Tim Colhoun and Marie Sherry. We made our way to Cloughmore stone and our thighs felt the pinch. Mickey Linden led the minors and they took a slight detour from the walkers and ran the trek. The camaraderie along the way kept us going and the route uphill was a struggle at times but we all made it to the summit of Slieve Martin. From the top views over Carlingford Lough were spectactular and for many this mornings walk was their first mountain climb and could only be described as exhilarating. Would we do it again? Absolutely and for such a worthy cause we all felt a sense of achievement.
This mornings walk raised £1000 from participants and donations are still coming in online.
Finally a huge thank you to Tim Colhoun Senior Camogie manager for organising the event and our experienced leaders Brendan Monaghan and Martin Sherry. Well done to all👏👏👏💙💙💙
