MAYOBRIDGE NOTES
Mayobridge Thirds qualified for the semi-final of the South Down ReserveLeague with an emphatic 6-14 to 0-7 win over visitors Glenn on Sunday afternoon. As the final scoreline indicates the Bridge were in full control for the entire game and won without really breaking sweat. Liam McManus was in sparkling form hitting the net four times while the other goal scorers were Michael Fitzpatrick and Thomas O’Hare.

After losing by two points on Tuesday evening to Ballyholland, Mayobridgesenior footballers bounced back to winning ways with a five point victory over Rostrevor on Saturday afternoon winning on a scoreline of 1-8 to 0-6. This win ensured the Bridge of Division One football again next season so well done to the team and management.
The U–16 Droichead Pointe Ladies (Mayobridge/Warrenpoint) travelled to Bredagh on Sunday morning last for the semi Final of the U–16 Championship.
The game got off to a lively start with Bredagh securing an early lead. The Blues fought back but were unable to push ahead and were trailing by fourpoints at the half-time whistle.
Droichead Pointe started the second half with renewed determination and theirhard work reduced Bredagh’s lead to a single point. However, any chance of winning slipped from their grasp, when in the dying minutes Bredagh snatcheda goal, making the final score 3-11 v 1-13 to Bredagh.
Despite being greatly disappointed with the result, the Droichead Pointe Ladies bow out, satisfied with their achievements this year, the highlight of which was winning the Ladies U16 A League.
Gormans Bar is hosting a quiz night on Saturday night (12th October) for Kayden McKeown and family and if anyone would like to donate prizes for the raffle they can be left in Gormans. Kayden is a 5 year old boy in our community who is currently battling leukaemia and our thoughts are with Kayden and his family at this very difficult time.
