MAYOBRIDGE NOTES
On Friday night the club held its Annual awards Night in the Social Club. Speakers on the night included, Down County Person, Sean Rooney
Mayobridge Chairperson Mairead Rooney, Helen McAleavey Chairperson of the Down Camogie Board and Sean Magone who spoke on behalf of the Handball Committee.
Mairead Rooney thanked all the mentors, trainers, officials and indeed everyone involved in the running of the club, giving up their free time to make the Club what it is, one of the best in the County. Mairead also invited new volunteers to please come forward and lend a hand to meet the demands of an ever-growing club. Our County Chairman paid tribute to all the award winners on the night and complimented the club on its various successes in 2018. Sean also paid tribute to Paula Magee who recently was elected Ulster Scór Chairperson.
Helen McAleavey Chairperson of the Camogie board praised the camogie teams and mentors for their successes on the field during 2018 and urged them to build on that success and nurture the talent within the club for future success.
Finally, a special thank you to Dessie Kennedy who kept things running smoothly throughout the evening, John Magee and staff who laid on a beautiful meal and Brendan Monaghan for his professional photography services throughout the night.

Down Premier Reserve Cup presented to team captain, Michael Fitzpatrick and awards to management of Brendan Coulter, Francie Poland, Noel Sexton and Gavin Barry.
Down Camogie Junior Championship Cup presented to captain, Orlagh Caldwell and awards to team management, Tim Colloun, Marie Sherry and Grace Brown.
South Down Minor League Trophy presented to captain, Jamie McKay.
Mayobridge GAC would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Dympna Tumilty her husband Paddy and family who presented Mayobridge Chairperson Mairead Rooney on Saturday with jerseys for our U-6, U-8 and U-10 Camogie girls and jerseys for U-8 and U-10 girls football.
Dympna completed a sponsored daily 10k run/walk in August 2018 in memory of her beautiful daughter Cassie RIP. From sponsorship money that she raised, which amounted in total to £4,276.76, Dympna kindly donated all proceeds to Mayobridge GAC who have in turn purchased girl’s football and camogie jerseys for our underage groups. A sincere thank you Dympna, Paddy and family.

Congratulations to St Colman’s Rannafast team and management on winning the All Ireland Paul McGirr semi- final on Saturday against St Gerald’s Castlebar.in Clonguish. The game ended all square after sixty minutes, 1-7 to 2-4 and went to extra time. St. Colman’s eventually won by 2-7 to 2-6 with our own Adam Crimmins scoring the vital winning goal in the dying minutes. Well done Adam and the rest of the Bridge lads, Oisin Magone and Thomas Hardy and coach Kevin Franklin. .

The club would like to say a sincere thank you to each and everyone who took time out on Saturday afternoon to help in the recording of the promotional video, The Greatest Showman. It highlighted once again the great community spirit in the village. The video will be released in the coming weeks and hopefully you will enjoy it.
This Summer Cúl camp will take place on 1st July-5th July 2019. Details regarding starting times etc. will be confirmed closer to the date.
