On Saturday evening Mayobridge GAC honoured our esteemed Clubman Sean Rooney following the end of his maximum 5 year term as Down County Chairman.
In a packed Social Club with family, friends and members of the Down County Board special tribute was paid to Sean for his excellent role representing our Club as Down County Chairperson in his 5 year term and in particular his role in bringing to fruition the 5 million-plus Down centre of excellence to Ballykinlar.
The newly elected Down County Chairperson John Devaney was among special guests who were there on Saturday evening and spoke of Sean’s time in office. The floor was open and various guest speakers, his brother Paul Rooney and fellow clubmen representing Down and of course our own club spoke of Sean and their relationship with him and what a fantastic job he accomplished as Down County Chairman, and continues this fine work at Mayobridge GAC.
Gerard Keenan our Vice Chairperson presented Sean with a framed photograph as Down Chairman and a gift on behalf of the Committee. Thomas O’Hare Club Secretary and Gerard Keenan also presented Mairead, Sean’s wife with a bouquet of flowers and after a lovely supper buffet a celebratory cake was presented to Sean.
We wish to thank O’Hares for providing the food and
special thanks to all who joined our evening of celebration and to each and everyone who helped out in any way to make Sean’s evening a night we hope he will not forget. Congratulations Sean 💙
