Mayobridge senior team suffered a six point defeat to neighbours Burren on Friday evening in Burren and now find themselves at the wrong end of the Division One table. The game got off to an explosive start with three goals scored in the opening three minutes, two for Burren while Ronan Sexton was on target for the Bridge. At half-time the teams were level ,2-6 to 2-6, the second Bridge goal also scored by Ronan Sexton in the 26th minute.
A Charlie Smyth point in the 31st minute edged the Sky Blues in front but this was as good as it got for the visitors as Burren assumed control to build up a six point lead by the 50th minute. A Kevin O’Rourke goal in the 53rd minute gave the Bridge renewed hope but Burren finished strongly with three late points to claim the victory. Final score: Burren 2-17 Mayobridge 3-8.

A late goal clinched victory for the Mayobridge U-14 football in a tough encounter with Drumaclone on Monday night by 3-15 to 4-11. Mayobridge, missing a couple of key forwards, started slowly and were soon behind as Drumclone hit the net in the opening minute. The rest of the half swung from end to end as the two teams exchanged scores. Drumaclone were up by five points at one stage, but a late surge got the ‘Bridge boys back to within two points at the break.
The second half continued to be closely fought and Drumclone led by two points with time running out but a late goal saw the Sky Blues scrape through by a single point.

Mayobridge minor team had to come with a late surge to overcome a good Ballyholland team at the Bridge on Tuesday last. The visitors took an early lead in the game and played the better football in the first half and deservedly led at the break. Fifteen minutes into the second half the Harps had established a four point lead but the Sky Blues then hit a purple patch and goals from Ollie Grant, Dylan O’Hare and Liam McManus helped their team record a narrow victory.
Although the Bridge played poorly at times they were able to finish the game the stronger and, in the end just about deserved the victory. Good performances from full back Thomas Hardy who was excellent, captain Jamie McKay at midfield, Liam Mathers at centre half back and Sean O’Hare on the half forward line. Charlie Smyth worked hard for the team and scored five important points from the dead ball including a 55yard effort in the second half which lifted his team. Caoilin McPolin played well in defence and worked hard considering he was carrying an ankle injury. Adam Crimmins had an influential game but unfortunately had to retire with injury and the club wishes him a speedy recovery. Final score: Mayobridge 3-11 Ballyholland 4-6
