Congratulations to the Mayobridge minor team who won the South Down Sevens on Saturday. On their way to the final the Bridge defeated Rostrevor, 9-11 to 2-7, Annaclone, 13-6 to 4-4 and Eire Og (Ballymartin/Glassdrumman, 5-9 to 1-23. In the final the Sky Blues were up against old rivals and near neighbours, Burren and a fine team performance saw the Bridge come out on top. Liam Mathers played a sweeper-keeper role, his distribution and strong runs and support play worked well throughout the tournament. Dane McNeill was outstanding in defence, breaking forward at pace to support attacks. Captain Jamie McKay had a great tournament and his leadership was evident, even though Jamie played a senior league match on Friday evening. He was full of energy and drove his team on. Sean O’Hare made an invaluable contribution and was at the heart of all his teams good work rate. Another senior player Charlie Smyth was superb in the midfield area, dropping back when needed and scoring several long range frees.
Liam Mc Manus, another player who featured in a senior league game the previous night, was outstanding. Liam’s clever movement and work-rate was superb and he was always on the look-out for a creative pass. Dylan O’Hare had a superb game, a very effective score taker and target man, Dylan was also influential when he dropped back to dictate play in central areas. Shane Keenan had a great game, always physical in the tackle and cool under pressure. Micheal McKay had a solid game, assured in possession and always able to link up through attack and take his scores. James McManus is a big game player and again contributed effectively, always looking to get on the ball and rarely wasted possession.
Congratulation lads this was a well-deserved win. Next up is the All County Final against Kilcoo.

At Hilltown on Friday evening in a Division One game Clonduff proved too strong for an understrength Bridge team, winning by four points, 3-9 to 2-8. Despite a very disjointed display in the first half the Sky Blues only trailed by a single point at the interval, the score being 0-5 to 0-4. Clonduff delivered a severe body blow thirty seconds after the restart when they caught the Bridge defence napping and strolled through to hit the net. The Bridge were then reduced to fourteen men ten minutes into the half when Conleth O’Hare was red carded. Despite this the Sky Blues reduced the deficit to just three points and could have levelled but a good goal chance was squandered. In the closing minutes the goals began to fly in with Clonduff snatching two in quick succession and the Bridge hit back with goals from Caolan Gallagher and Charlie Smyth but it was too little too late as the Yellas deservedly claimed the points.
Mayobridge scorers|: Caolan Gallagher (1-1), Charlie Smyth (1-1), Shane McNamee (0-1), Micheal Lively (0-1), Conor Garvey (0-1),Ronan Sexton (0-1), Jamie McKay (0-1), Kevin McClorey (0-1).
This Friday Mayobridge will host Downpatrick, throw-in 7.30.p.m.

The U-16 Droichead Pointe ladies notched up another victory on Sunday at Milltown when they defeated a strong Carryduff side. The visitors put in a strong first half performance and led by five points at the break.
The ensuing team talk, delivered in the Blue corner, had the desired effect and it was an resolute Blue team with heads held high that returned to the field to face their determined opposition.
Throughout the second half the Blues lifted the game and surpassed themselves with a display of skill and cohesive teamwork, embraced by each and every member of the team. This resulted in a number of successive scores, to include several well-executed goals.
