MAYOBRIDGE U-14 TEAM PICTURED BEFORE LEAVING FOR THE FEILE IN GALWAY.
MayobridgeU-14 footballers enjoyed a fabulous weekend at the All Ireland Feile in Galway. They reached the semi-final of the Shield competition but lost narrowly to Erris St. Pat’s by 2-6 to 1-4. It was a tough loss for the team but they tried their very best and can be very proud of their efforts. It was a great weekend of football, new friendships made and marvellous memories to look back on. Well done to the team and mentors.
The Mayobridge U-14 footballers signed off before the Feile with an emphatic win over Newry Shamrocks in the U-14 league on Monday night last. The team assumed control right from the throw-in and playing their best football of the year, they registered some magnificent team scores and combined with resolute defending saw them go in at half time an impressive 2-14 to 0-3 ahead.
Changes were made at half time to give all the members of the panel a run out and the flow of the team was disrupted a little, but once everyone settled back in to the game, the scores kept coming. Shamrocks were much better in the second half, but the Bridge still kept control and recorded an impressive victory. Final score: Mayobridge 4-18 Newry Shamrocks 2-6.
