Mayobridge qualified for the final of the Down U-21 championship with a big win over Warrenpoint at the Bridge on Sunday morning, the final score reading 5-17 to 1-9. In the final, which is pencilled in for this Sunday (24th November), they will face pre-championship favourites Carryduff who saw off the challenge of Saul in the other semi-final.
In the first half of this game there wasn’t much between the sides but goals from Shane Smyth and Ryan Byrne saw the Sky Blues go in at the break leading 2-6 to 0-6. A Shane Smyth goal early in the second half was a severe blow to the Point from which they never recovered and aided by further goals from Daniel Catterson and Aaron Gribben the Bridge ran out comfortable winners.
Well done to the team and management.
