Mayobridge Club Notes

Mayobridge Thirds added the South Down league title to their Down Reserve Championship trophy with a hard fought victory over Ballymartin by 2-13 to 1-11 at the Bridge on Tuesday evening. On a bitterly cold evening with a biting north east wind the Sky Blues did just enough to claim victory. Ballymartin got off to a dream start when they found the net in the opening minute aided by some kamikaze defending from the home side. However this did not deter the Bridge and a goal from Benny Coulter helped them establish a four point lead by the break, 1-8 to 1-4.
In the second half Ballymartin enjoyed a lot of possession but chalked up a series of wides both from play and placed balls which was to prove costly in the end. With six minutes to go only three points separated the sides but a goal from Shane O’Hare following clever play from Noel Sexton was enough to see the Bridge claim the title. Congratulations to the team and management.
